Be A PH ESL Teacher In China

Kenjie November 29, 2019
Teacher Dot Asia

I have been getting tons of emails and facebook messages. Everyday. Every hour. People have been asking about how to become an ESL teacher in China.

It Always Seems Impossible Until It’s Done

Some believe it was impossible. Then I wrote a detailed blog about it. After the article was written and shared across Facebook and organically found via Google, it has become a source of inspiration and motivation to many fellow Filipinos. Countless found hope, took the plunge, and decided to apply.

This one article has helped Filipinos develop a network of contacts that give them access to teaching opportunities in China. In record time, many Filipinos have been able to start working as an ESL teacher in the Land of the Red Dragon in 2019.

Teach And Talk

How to get started? Starting is sometimes the hardest thing to do. Right? You are unsure about what needs done and where to ask for help. You may be scared. Don’t be. Now it becomes easier, because we will help you.

Who We Are

We are not a recruitment agency. Like you, we are teachers too. And we are working in China as direct-hires. And we also have direct access to employers who are looking for Filipino teachers.

You can absolutely work in China as a teacher without going through an agency. Sounds good? Let’s meet.

Teachr will hold an event on January 22, 2020 at Hostel Function Hall, Bulacan State University, Guinhawa Malolos Bulacan.

teachr

This event, organized like nothing else, will discuss everything you need to know about being an ESL teacher in China. Topics include:

  • What is life like in China: culture, food, weather, living standards?
  • Where and how to apply for legit teaching jobs?
  • What are the qualifications and documents employers are looking for?
  • How much is the acceptable salary for Filipino teachers?
  • What are the requirements to get a work permit, z visa, and OEC?
  • How to send money to the Philippines?
  • What to do when issues arise between you and your employer?
  • How to avoid being scammed by some employers?
  • How to spend less with your application?
  • What are the things to do and prepare before boarding the plane?
  • Who can you ask help from when you are already in China?
  • Many more…

Why Are We Doing This

We’ve seen and heard stories of teachers who have been scammed and taken advantage of. We have personally talked to teachers with horrible experiences, desperate teachers who are working abroad for the first time.

There are unscrupulous recruiters looking for unsuspecting newcomers to scam them out of an initial ‘deposit’ or ‘recruitment fee’. There’s one Filipino applicant who provided a copy of her passport without double-checking the recruiter’s identity. She has ever since been a victim of identity thief. Be careful.

If you think this event is expensive, wait until you lose so much money for not knowing. There is more to this event than meets the eye. There are deeper issues that will also be addressed such as breach of contract, taxes, passport renewals etc.

Teaching is a vocation, a calling and not just merely a profession. Not everyone who graduated with Bachelor’s Degree in Education from university was truly qualified to teach, yet some who were non-Education graduates were more qualified to be teachers.
